Swiftly Contained Fire Incident at Vizag Steel Plant’s Blast Furnace 3

In a recent incident at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), a minor fire broke out in the vicinity of the Blast Furnace-3 (BF-3) on January 13. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damage to the plant. This incident, which occurred near the slag pit located in the north, resulted in the burning of some cables adjacent to the pit. However, immediate measures were taken to promptly extinguish the fire.

The incident near Blast Furnace-3:

A minor fire incident unfolded at around 6 p.m., as a roadside bush caught fire due to the slag splash from the pit near the Blast Furnace-3. As soon as the fire was detected, the CISF personnel swiftly arrived at the scene and effectively extinguished the flames. Speedy actions of the security personnel prevented any harm to the plant, machinery, or production operations.

Safety Remains Paramount – No Injuries, No Plant Losses

In an official statement, the RINL-VSP spokesperson confirmed that there were no casualties resulting from the fire incident. Additionally, there was no loss or damage inflicted upon the Vizag Steel Plant stemming from the incident. The spokesperson emphasized that the minor fire accident occurred near the Blast Furnace-3 and was immediately contained, guaranteeing the well-being of the plant and its employees.

Resilience of Blast Furnace-3:

It is noteworthy that the Blast Furnace-3 had only recently resumed operations after a gap of nearly two years. Despite this unanticipated fire incident, the Vizag Steel Plant remains committed to uninterrupted production.

The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant quickly addressed and brought under control a minor fire incident near Blast Furnace-3. Prompt action by the CISF personnel ensured that no injuries occurred and that the plant, machinery, and production remained unharmed.
